Made Paycom notorious for layoffs to the extent that not even some staffing firms will work for them anymore. He's a nice guy himself, but he has no concept of leadership. He has cultivated a toxic management culture and staffed the upper levels of management with people who are not positive contributions to the company. I do not think he, or the other managers, have a very good idea of how their policies impact the broader business efforts.

Exhausting place to work, often 10+ hour days. Good luck getting any time off due to Chad’s “top down” strategy.

He's effective at being a manager.

This company operates with a highly demanding and often unrealistic environment. Expectations are set without adequate resources and training making it difficult for employees to succeed, regardless of effort and dedication. Management lacks effective communication and leadership skills resulting in inconsistent direction, making it a culture that prioritizes metrics over the well being of the employee. The workplace culture feels more cutthroat than collaboration. Employee morale is low due to working ten plus hours, just to stay afloat which contributes to a high turnover. There's constant pressure to meet goals, which are simply unattainable. Based on my experience, I would suggest that potential candidate do their research and decide whether their morals and values align with this company.Because I assure you, they probably do not.

The recruiters do an amazing job at convincing you the company is superb but subpar is more like it. It doesn’t take long for you to realize the ones who promote are the yes people and you get let go if you don’t fit their fake mold. It’s fear based leadership & cutthroat from the top down even when it impacts one of their own. They’re all ready to pounce and duke it out for that empty seat despite the impact it had on one of their own. Friends don’t let friends work at Paycom.

His and the companies cutthroat mentality is top tier. They will make you believe you’re the problem but in all reality it’s them. Who are them? They know who they are. The ass kissers that continue to work for someone this ruthless. Do yourself a favor and pass if you get called forma job here.

I'm surprised his PR team isn't more involved.

All of the positive comments are his PR people trying to bring the rating back up. This guy does not care about anything besides himself. He has snapped back at investors during earnings calls, laid off thousands of employees, and churned through dozens of executive leaders. That’s just scratching the surface. Avoid anything with this guy’s name on it.

I love him so much. A role model in how to get rid of the workers that made your company so great.

Don't forget tall too
He really sold out after he renamed himself. Little known fact: his real name is John Paycom.

Very egotistical. No vision. Made sudden and horribly wrong decisions, one after another. Trying to exploit all your energy.

I don't know why there are so many bad ratings. The guy is a genius. I love working for Paycom and he is the visionary that created it.

Got lucky once…unable to repeat. Replaces experienced product thinkers with yes-men. Pits his team against each other to stay unchallenged. Gets threatened by anyone competent enough to draw attention away from him. Promoted internally from customer service into product leadership roles. Mistook knowing the product for knowing how to build one. No product management experience, no roadmap discipline, no vision. Expressed shock when product couldn’t execute. The vision wasn’t blocked by bad PMs. There was no vision. Just ego and the next earnings call. Announced AI would replace roles. Laid off the people with institutional knowledge he claimed was critical. Didn’t have the infrastructure to back the claim. Called it vision. Runs an HR company with zero respect for actual HR principles. One star because zero isn’t an option.
